Political and World Events

2004

In October 2004, on Telemundo, the biggest Spanish language network, Carmen predicted that the next president of Ecuador would be a tall man, about 40 years old, with light eyes and a nice smile, three children, and a name that begins with the letter “R.” Dark horse candidate Rafael Correa, who matches this description, won the election in November 2006.

2003

January 1, 2003, on the Today Show, Carmen predicted that John Kerry would become the Democratic nominee for president in 2004.

In April 2003, on the Channel 11 morning news in New York, Carmen predicted that we would not find Osama bin Laden, and that we would be involved in the war in the Middle East for at least seven years.

In the New York Post, Carmen predicted that Hillary Clinton would run for president in 2008 and that her opponent would be from the South—“someplace warm”, about 10-12 years younger, and a female. Barack Obama is from the South (Hawaii), about 14 years younger than Hillary Clinton, and while he’s not female, has a yin energy.

2001

In July 2001, TV Guide called Carmen to make predictions about which television shows coming out that fall would be successful. She said that no one would be watching any new entertainment shows in the fall because everyone would be watching the news, that there would be major problems in the world and that buildings would be falling down.

On September 11, 2001, Lynne White of Channel 11-WPIX in New York City, who was on the air, called Carmen off-the-air shortly after the first plane hit the World Trade Center to find out if she had any insights into what was happening. Carmen told her that terrorism was involved, that there were was a total of four planes and that one of the planes was going toward the white house. Avril LaCour, a producer for Good Day New York, also called that morning and asked how many people were going to die, and Carmen said 3,000 to 4,000.

In a conversation on the phone shortly after September 11, Carmen predicted to Jimmy Walker, an ABC reporter and a first cousin of George W. Bush, that we would not be able to capture Osama bin Laden, and that in 2007 we would learn that he was dead, killed by his own people.

2000

In August 2000, Carmen predicted on Channel 11 in New York City that Senator Al Gore would win the presidency but he would not take office and that Hillary Clinton would win the senate race in New York.

On July 23, 2000, Carmen met Hillary Clinton in South Hampton, New York, and told her that her husband would never leave her, and that Hillary would run for president in 2008.

In October 2000, Carmen predicted on Channel 11 in New York City that the World Series would be a subway series between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, and that the Yankees would win.

1999

On January 6 1999, Carmen predicted on Good Day New York that the Soviet Union's leadership would change (Vladimir Putin became president of Russia on December 31, 1999). Furthermore, Carmen predicted that we would not have Saddam Hussein around (he was dethroned in 2003), that we would find water on Mars (NASA announced the discovery of evidence of water on Mars in June 2000) that World War III was going to occur in the Middle East (Iraq was invaded in 2003), and that Bill Clinton would not be removed from office and would finish his term (at the time, impeachment hearings were going on in Congress; the impeachment was dropped on February 12, 1999).

1998

In early 1998 on Good Day New York, Carmen predicted that a new planet would be discovered in our solar system, and that there would be many hurricanes and severe storms (1998 was the second deadliest hurricane season on record). In June 1998, the New York Times reported that a new planet, twice the size of Jupiter, was discovered in our solar system.

Carmen predicted in January 1998 on Let's Talk with Dorie Klissas on NBC that Rudolph Giuliani, the mayor of New York City, would drop out of the senatorial race in May for health reasons (Giuliani developed prostate cancer and announced in May 1998 that he was dropping out of the senatorial race) and that he would have legal problems at the same time (he separated from his wife, Donna Hanover, in 2000 and divorced in 2002).

1997

Just after the death of Princess Diana on August 31, 1997, Carmen predicted on Let's Talk with Dorie Klissas on NBC that Mother Teresa would die right away because she was karmically connected to Diana. Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997.

Carmen predicted on Let's Talk with Dorie Klissas on NBC that Pope John Paul II would die around Easter time (although she didn't know what year he would die). (The pope died April 2, 2005.)

In a private reading, Carmen predicted to Pamela Hayes from Court TV that Hillary would become a senator for New York State (Hillary was elected in November 2000).

1986

Carmen predicted the fall of the Berlin Wall, which occurred in November 1989.

Celebrity Predictions
2006

Carmen predicted on ABC News on Valentine's Day that Jessica Simpson would not find a new love in the next year, but her ex, Nick Lachey, would. (Nick Lachey became involved with MTV host Vanessa Minnillo in April 2006.)

2005

In a private reading in December 2005, Carmen told George Clooney's girlfriend, Christa Allen, that George Clooney was going to win an Academy Award when the ceremony was held in early 2006 (he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Syriana).

2003

In early 2003, Carmen predicted to Us Weekly that Nicole Kidman would win the Academy Award for Best Actress (she won for her performance in The Hours).

On the Today Show in January 2003, Carmen predicted that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck would not last more than a year or two as a couple (they broke up in 2004).

2000

In August 2000 on the Channel 11 morning news in New York City, and on the Morning Show in San Francisco in October 2002, Carmen said that Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt, who had gotten married in July 2000, would not have children together and that their marriage probably wouldn't last long (they divorced in 2005).

1997

January 1, 1997, on Fox News, Carmen predicted that Madonna would have a son (her son, Rocco, was born in August 2000) and get married (she married Guy Ritchie in December 2000).

1996

Carmen told Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's sister Lauren not to fly in a small plane as she thought it would be dangerous for her. Lauren, her sister, and her brother-in-law, John F. Kennedy, Jr., died when their small plane crashed near Martha's Vineyard in July 1999.

1992

Carmen predicted to Candice Bergen that her husband, French film director Louis Malle, would die soon (he died in 1995) and that her daughter would get needed heart surgery but would be in good health afterward (she underwent the surgery shortly afterwards and was fine).

Early 1990s

In a private reading with Courteney Cox, long before she landed her role on NBC's Friends, Carmen told her to leave New York and go to Los Angeles, where she would become famous as an actress.
